Research Topic:
The objective of this unit is to decipher the establishment of bacterial intestinal microbiota in the neonatal period and in the first 1000 days of life to better understand the constraints, the influence of environmental drivers and the dynamics that prevail in the stepwise construction of the bacterial consortia residing in the gut microbiota. The dynamic of bacterial consortia during dysbiosis and disease states will also be addressed.
To achieve these goals, we will use a combination of metataxonomics, single cell analysis and culturomics to deeply interrogate the construction of bacterial consortia and the resulting prokaryote-prokaryote episymbosis.
We will work in close collaboration with other units, especially those developing microfluidics, organ-on-chip technologies, germ-free animals and omics.
