Research Topic:

Our research interest focuses on the structural mechanism of the interaction between pathogen and host. We propose to determine the three dimensional structures of important macromolecular machineries involved with pathogen entry, replication, host anti-pathogen response, and et al. using multidisciplinary tools (Cryo-Electron Microscope, X-ray crystallography, Biochemistry and et al.). Once the structures are solved, we may analyze the important interfaces within protein machinery, antigen antibody complex, or active sites in enzymes. On one hand, the structure information may help characterize the biological macromolecules (architecture, regulatory network, and et al.); On the other hand, structure-based screening of the anti-pathogen pro-drugs or design of new vaccines based on various epitopes can be carried out.
